Use Vancouver style and verify every citation against the original source.

• Number references consecutively in order of first citation.
• Use NLM journal-title abbreviations.
• Include DOI as a resolvable identifier whenever available.
• Cite datasets, software, protocols, registries and preprints as identifiable sources.
• Use a reference manager and remove duplicate records.
• Do not cite fabricated, unverifiable or AI-generated references.
• Check author names, title, journal, year, volume, pages and DOI.
• Clearly identify retracted sources when their citation is necessary.
